Total Personae is my practice of making and inhabiting facets of myself. Through changes in speech, hair, clothing and behavior—and releasing work under a persona—I explore how identity shapes recognition, belonging, privacy and protection. These personae shift through use; they can be inhabited and eventually shed.
Nikki S. Lee’s work inhabiting different communities through changes in appearance and gesture was an important influence.
